I want a pug

We've been talking for a while about getting a greyhound, but we haven't done so yet, mainly because the house is too small. The reason I originally wanted a greyhound was because they have such terrible lives racing and are often killed (and often inhumanely) when they can no longer race. But I don't get excited when I see a greyhound.
However, I've seen a few pugs lately and never mind get excited, I've been known to squeal, hop up and down and go all pathetically, "Uk at that ickle wiggle puggy wuggy." You know, nauseating stuff. Also, they really make me laugh. You can't look at a pug and not laugh, can you?
So last week when I saw one in the park, I basically stalked it for a while (its owners had wandered off), thinking about just sticking it under my arm and carrying it off like a handbag and then I realised that, while I like the idea of rescuing a greyhound, pugs fill me with joy. And if I've learned anything over the past few years, it's that I should follow the joy.
The only thing is, I'm not going to buy a pug* and I can't find any rescue pugs (I'm not really thinking of getting one right this minute anyway - I've got enough to be going on with! - I would just like to know they're available).
So I'm just going to have to read pug books (like this one) and perhaps stick up some pug pictures. I might even get myself a toy one. Or something. Or if anyone reading this has got a pug they've had enough of...
* My sister thought they'd cost a couple of thousand, but I did find two puppies online for £900 each. Much as I'm against buying dogs and much as I haven't got £900 (or certainly not to spend on a dog), the picture of the puppies had me wondering if it would be such a terrible thing to do...

They are adorable aren't they? If we were to get a dog it would be a pug as they are the only dogs Paul likes (which is fine by me!). They have funny little faces! If you get one we can dog sit for you!!!

Now I've heard of munching on coal and peanut butter and woodshavings on toast but craving a PUG!? Think you should take a deep breath and contact Guiness Book of Records for Weirdest Pregnancy Craving! Tee hee! Pugs!!!!! They're not toys and they DO last way beyond Christmas... oh and then there's the delightful little poo-collecting thing that will ALWAYS turn me right off adorable little puppies.
Bleurgh!

It's the Shaun one that kills me too, Susan!
Debs, I was craving the pug long before I got knocked up. Strangely, the picking up poo doesn't put me off, but I once dog-sat for a Lhasa Apso (sp?) - or it might've been a Shitzu - and after taking it for a walk, I had to clean it's bum with baby wipes. Er. No, thanks.

That picture just keeps making me smile so I decided to google 'pug dogs' and browse through the image gallery and oh how I laughed. There are pugs dressed as jesters, brides, Count Pugular and my favourite hot dogs complete with ketchup and mustard!!! The first page threw up the best picture though - George Clooney holding a pug. *swoon*

OMG! Suzi! I've seen that photo before, but I'd totally forgotten. *swoon* indeed...
