Remember when I did that (boring) I *heart* my iPod post and I said I was going to download David Cassidy's The Last Kiss because I loved it when it was out? Well I did. And I still love the song, mainly because it's totally over-the-top and it's got George Michael* on backing vocals.
I was listening to it the other day and pondering on how weird it was when it came out because it was David Cassidy's comeback single and I loved him as he was then, but everything I read about him had pictures of when he was young and he was gorgeous then too. But it seemed like two different people. Yet I fancied "both" of them. (What can I say? I was young and hormonal.)
And as I was thinking this I realised that David Cassidy originally retired in 1971, the year I was born. And I thought I remembered reading that he was only 19 or 20. And the comeback was 1985. And so, if I remembered correctly, he would only have been 34 or 35 when I was fancying the "older" version.
Fact-fans will know that I am 34 now. I checked on imdb and found I was right. So now I'm too old for the "young" David Cassidy and the same age as the "old" one. That does not make me happy. Especially when I found some pictures.
"Old" Cassidy. I don't look like that, do I? Do I?? Yes, that's a shaped picture disc (ask your parents, youngsters).
"Young" Cassidy. Mmmm, dreamy. Dig the shirt. And the sovereign ring.
And while I was searching I found this which I had totally (and thankfully) forgotten/blanked out:
Yes, that's Samantha Fox (ask your dads, youngsters!). Yes, that's David Cassidy's idea of "romance".
The only consolation is that I don't fancy him now.
* Happy Birthday for yesterday, my first (gay) love!

I love on that shaped picture disc, that the whole is where his crotch is! Does it look like he is aroused when its playing?

Hmm... I never did the David Cassidy thing at all. I remmber having a Leif Garrett poster on my wall though. I have no idea who that is, older cousins gave it to me.
Sadly, I had the hots for Gary Glitter and The Bay City Rollers and I am still in love with Mike Nesmith from the Monkees.
Doesn't say much for my taste in men at all really, does it?
