"BEFORE: Reena has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember.
But he's never noticed her, until one day...he does. They fall in
messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid
Florida town, leaving a devastated - and pregnant - Reena behind. AFTER:
Three years later and there's a new love in Reena's life: her daughter
Hannah. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns
up again. After everything that's happened, can Reena really let
herself love Sawyer again?"
If you’re after a good gritty romance for older teens then this is definitely the one for you. Reena has been in love with Sawyer for as long as she can remember and is praying for the day he’ll finally notices her. He eventually does, but consequently ends up leaving her distraught and pregnant. Three years later and he’s back...
This is so romantic. Cotugno deals with real issues and introduces us to very real characters that are easily identifiable. She explores how true love can disrupt, thrill and change your life forever. Both Reena and Sawyer have their faults and as a reader we get to watch them grow and learn (or not) from their mistakes. There are parts of this book that are heartbreakingly sad, some bits are funny and some bits are super hot. Cotugno’s writing style draws you in completely and I loved how each chapter focused on Before and After, before Sawyer left and after he came back. An exceptional love story, beautifully written.
