We'd like to welcome Emma Mills, the British author of the fantastic Witchblood series. Her latest book, WitchLove, has just been released. Read on to find out more...
Hi (waves) It’s great to be here on Chicklish. I’ve come to chat a little about my new book WitchLove, which is book 3 in a YA paranormal series set in the UK. I thought I’d answer some questions I’ve been getting asked on my Facebook page and other social networks.
Have we seen or read the last of the Witchblood series?
Initially when I planned the Witchblood series, WitchLove was to be the final book in a trilogy. However as I wrote it I soon realised it would either have to be a JK Rowling style mammoth length finale or a more appealing four book series. So I am now in the planning stages of a 4th book called WitchHunt, which will probably be the last instalment in this series!
The setting of Witchblood is really unique, both in the sense it is set in Britain and that it is then set outside of London. Yet you move the characters to the US in WitchLove. What was your reasoning for this?
When I write I tend to get carried away and the characters do their own thing! Somehow Jess ended up with an American family that traces back to the Salem witch trials. So when she wanted to escape her man problems in Manchester it seemed natural that she would go there. It also allowed me to have fun with a new place and introduce Hoodoo/Voodoo and zombies!
What did you enjoy writing or experiencing with WitchLove?
Writing this book was great fun. Firstly there were no stressful attempted rape scenes to write, which I always get far too carried away with. Secondly this book has much more witchcraft in it and Jess grows up quite a bit. Thirdly I loved writing the ending… the witchcraft, the romance and the shocker at the end… it was all great fun to write!
Is there a particular song that represents WitchLove when you hear it playing?
Yes, there are several but I’m actually writing a new post for another UK blog that does a ‘musical moments’ weekly post. So check it out at http://www.bookangelbooktopia.com/ on the 24th.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Currently I am in the process of selling our house and moving to Cheshire, but I hope to begin writing WitchHunt this spring, to be published in the Autumn. I’m also hoping to write a short story spin-off going back to the French Revolution and catching up with Eva & Sebastian, (two of my Manchester Vampires) to be included in an anthology; and next year you can expect a new spin-off series.
Thanks for hosting me and here are the details of book 3 in the Witchblood series:

“I love this series. I can hardly wait until the 3rd book, WitchLove is released… This is a series that I will look forward to re-reading just as the new book is ready for release.”
—Carrie, book reviewer at OnceUponATwilight.com
“The characters feel real, the world feels authentic, and the story literally throbs with an underlying intensity that builds with each page. In short, Witchblood is an imaginative, satisfying read that still manages to leave the reader hungry for more."
—Thomas Winship, author of Vaempires: Revolution & Vaempires: Zombie Rising
Author Bio
I'm Emma. I am happily married with two lovely children. I have always loved reading and writing and published my first novel WitchBlood in Jan 2012 with Witchcraft following in June and WitchLove now in Feb 2013. After acquiring an obsessive love of supernatural teen novels... yes I'm a Twilight fan... I decided to write my own supernatural story based here in Manchester in the UK, near where I live and grew up. It's currently dark, windy, cold and very very wet... and easy to get inspiration.
Thank you very much, Emma Mills!
