"Ebony has always known that she is different. Her violet eyes mark her
out, and her protective parents have kept her in a gorgeous valley,
home-schooled, safe from everything - almost as if she's being hidden.
But she's changing: glowing, getting more and more beautiful, and
stronger than anyone knows. Ebony can't stay hidden for ever, and when
she meets complicated, intense Jordan, something explodes inside her -
something that can be seen from the heavens; something that changes
everything. Ebony is a stolen angel, concealed on Earth. Now the heavens
have found her, they want her back."
This book was one of the most hauntingly beautiful books I have ever read. It follows the life of Ebony Hawkins: a stunning girl hidden away in a small valley, with extremely strict parents, especially when it comes to going anywhere. She has always felt like she doesn't belong, but then she meets Jordan. And her whole life is turned into an even bigger mess, that's starting to make sense...
My favourite character has to be Jordan, just because he loves Ebony so much and so helplessly. And of course that he is as bullet-proof as a human can get. I think my favorite part in the book is the training Jordan is given and his snide marks about the food. Another reason why I liked the book was because almost everything that happened I wasn't expecting, making it excruciatingly hard to put the book down - which of course is always a good thing! The only thing I disliked about the book was the ending, because it is a huge cliffhanger, and the second book in this series (the Avena series) comes out in March 2014! Very annoying!
I think this book would suit a reader who likes a paranormal romance of a different kind, but doesn't mind a slightly confusing start. I would give this book a 9/10.
