A Medal for Leroy is the latest novel by Michael Morpurgo, illustrated by Michael Foreman. Here's more about it...
Michael lives with his French mother in London just after the war. His father died a hero, shot down in a dogfight over the Channel. Michael has one of his medals to remember him by, and two ancient Aunts – Aunt Pish and Aunt Snowdrop – Mary and Martha, who he visits occasionally mostly out of duty to scatter snowdrops on the sea in memory of his father. But after Aunt Snowdrop dies Michael discovers a family secret that has remained hidden for many years. And he learns more about who his father really was, but also the amazing story of his grandparents.
A Medal for Leroy is a story partly inspired by the author’s own life and partly by the life of an incredible soldier.
