Have you ever thought of working for a famous celebrity in the south of France, in a yacht? 16-year-old Cate Carlisle lands a glamorous summer job, working for a famous supermodel Nancy Kyle. But the temperature rises, and Cate finds herself in the middle of a very mysterious conspiracy as she discovers smuggled animals with a terrifying fate ahead of them.
Also, how can the summer go by without a summer fling? Cate's summer does get busier as Cate meets a handsome boy (I won’t tell you who it is but you won’t be disappointed). And, as I do love romantic stories, my favourite scene in the story was when Cate bumps into the handsome French boy for the second time.
This book is the first in The Cate Carlisle Files series. Trapped is a spectacular novel packed with mysteries, drama and romance. Isla Whitcroft, the author of the book, used great descriptions that made it easier to visualize every scene of the novel as well as feel the tropical weather in the south of France. This story was told in third person, which gave us an insight on what all the characters were up to.
Trapped made me laugh, and at one point cry, which is really surprising because I usually don’t get emotional whilst reading. Also, this book constantly kept me guessing at various points in the novel, like who was in charge of the missing animals.
I really enjoyed this book. I travelled all the way to the south of France in just a few pages without even buying a plane ticket. And if you do enjoy the book as much as I did, the story doesn’t just end there - it continues in the sequel Deep Water where Cate travels all the way to Australia.
Overall, I recommend this book to those who enjoy glamorous, exciting, fast-paced thrillers.
