Wintercraft is about a Skilled girl called Kate Winters, kidnapped with her best friend, Edgar, by the High Council's most feared man, Silas Dane, and getting taken to the capital city, Fume. They try to escape the clutches of the Silas and succeed a few times, but then they are captured again. Kate's purpose is to be experimented on by Da'ru with the help of an ancient book written by the Winters family: Wintercraft. This book contains everything about the veil that only the Skilled can see, but will it get Kate killed?
I thought that this book was great! It was so unusual! I have never thought that authors could be this creative and create such a storyline that was so different. I didn't want to put this book down. Ever. I thought that the author described everything in great detail and I also liked that the writer gave the views of the other characters so it wasn't always from one character's perspective. I also liked the concept (I can't tell you though because I think it will ruin the plot).
My favourite character was probably Kate because I felt sorry for her that her parents died and that her normal life was stolen. She has been put through so many horrible things and she is only seventeen. The weirdest character for me was Silas Dane because his personality was so cold and I didn't think anyone could be like that (even if they weren't real). Overall I thought that this book was very interesting and unusual and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fab review! I really liked Kate as a character too, but Silas was probably my favourite... maybe because he is pretty weird.

Silas was one of the weirdest characters I think.
