REVIEW: The13 Curses by Michelle Harrison

When Red's (real name Rowan) brother gets stolen by fairies, she swears that she will find him no matter what. When she enters the fairy realm and makes her way to the fairy court, she begs to have an audience with the two fairy leaders. She is set a task to find the charms of Tanya's bracelet in the human world, but she finds more then she bargained for. Red returns to Elvesden Manor and is assisted by Tanya and Fabian in the hunt for the Thirteen Charms, but they soon realize that the longer the charms are left undiscovered the more dangerously powerful they become. Can Red, Tanya and Fabian find all the charms? Even if they do, will the fairies keep their promise?

I liked this book, because it was unlike any other I ever read. I think that the writer must have a great imagination to come up with a storyline like this. It made me want to believe that fairies really were real! I also like the fact that the writer explained everything so well because I haven't read the first book, but I still understood what was going on and why.

My favourite character was Red because she has gone through so many bad things, like her parents being killed and her brother being taken away. I think that the world should just give her a break. Even though some of the times she was a bit selfish, she had valid reasons to be selfish.

I would recommend this book to anyone who like adventure and fairies!
