Review by Amber
'Vicky and Rhianna are twins but they couldn't be more different. For their fourteenth Birthday, Vicky wants a card from the hottest boy in school. Rhianna, brain-damaged at birth, wants a Furby. Instead, they get a nasty shock. Their foster parents can't cope and it looks as if Vicky amd Rhianna and their younger brother Jamie will have to be split up. How can they stay together? Desperate times call for desperate measures...'
Desperate Measures is all about Vicky and Rhianna who are twins, and their 10 year old brother, Jamie. All three of them live with foster parents Sarah and Paul. It's the twin's fourteenth Birthday, which is meant to be an exciting day. Except it isn't, because something terrible happens. Paul and Sarah can't really cope with them all. The twins and Jamie don't want to go to another foster family. They want to stay, and Jamie has a plan...
I think this was a really good book. It's not really the kind of book I would pick up in a book shop and think instantly, 'Oooh I'll have that!', but I actually really enjoyed it. The author has written it really well, so well that the story kind of... grabs you and pulls you in. It's like you're watching everything happen as if you're there, with the characters. The cover is gorgeous too!
I give this book... 5/5! When this book comes out on 29th January 2010, I really recommend you buy it if you're looking for a different, adventurous read.

Your review really has me intrigued. I sometimes find that the books that I don't expect to be grabbed by are the ones I enjoy most of all. I'll bear this one in mind when I'm next in the mood for a different type of read.
