13-year-old Sassy Wilde loves spreading eco love by playing her guitar. She desperately wants to make a demo disk and make it big, but her dad is running for election and her parents won't pay for the disk unless she agrees to stay out of trouble and be a dutiful politician's daughter. Sassy also loves her great friends, though not her friend-turned-enemy Megan. And then there's the gorgeous Magnus, who offered her a bite of his muffin in Biology. Sassy's in for some fun times, and quite a bit of trouble...
This was a fun, witty and thoroughly entertaining book, with a fast pace and an engaging storyline. Sassy is a sweet and lovable character, and her focus on ecology is very interesting. Her friends are also fun and individual. There were some great moments between Sassy and her consumerist younger sister, and Sassy's personality really grew and shone as the book progressed. The footnotes, song lyrics and different typefaces also added to this very cute book. Highly recommended to fans of Cathy Cassidy and Karen McCombie, and all girls aged about 10+.
The second book in the series, Pinch Me, I'm Dreaming, will be out in August 2009 in the UK.
