Review by Stacey
When Anya and her family move from their home country, Poland, to Britain they think life will be so much better and that they will just about be rolling with money. But when Anya's Dad's business doesn't take off, Anya's and her family's future starts to crumble. The fact that absolutely no one understands her at school doesn't help one bit.
But after a small 'accident' at school, Anya makes friends with misfits Frankie and Kurt, plus cool bad-boy Dan. With new friends and a slice of cake from the best cafe in the world, Anya's future starts to look better. Is Britain really not as bad as Anya thought?
This is yet another masterpiece created by Cathy Cassidy. I swear that you won't want to put it down until you've read the last page!!! This book really makes you see how hard it is moving to a new country where no one understands you. The story was inspired by a real life Polish reader Cathy met at an event. When you finish reading it you'll definitely feel like eating a piece of angel cake, and just as well because there's a delicious recipe at the end of the book!

With huge thanks from the Chicklish team to Stacey, and we're really looking forward to more reviews in future! Stacey's fabulous blog is here - check it out!
Angel Cake is released in the UK in July 2009 (but Stacey read it sooner because she's in Australia!)

I don't think I've ever read anything by Cathy Cassidy. This book sounds good though. I'm going to google Angel Cake (the actual cake) I can't see what it looks like in my head.
