Seventeen-year-old Val hates life... then one
day it hates her back. So she forgets her old life and leaves. Lolli finds her
cold hungry and without much money, so she takes her to the disused underground station. Lolli’s friends are Luis and Dave, brothers who claim to work for monsters. Val has to find out if they are telling
the truth or just pulling her leg. She convinces Lolli to track down the
monster's lair. There she runs into Ravus, but is it the best thing ever or the
worst mistake? The group of friends get hooked on a faerie drug called Never
and things start to get out of control. More and more faeries start to show
themselves, scared of a hidden murder killing off the outcasts. Who will be
next, and can Val and Lolli protect their faerie friends?
WOW! More thrilling than any book I’ve ever read. It doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t read Tithe (reviewed here) or Ironside (reviewed here), as this is a perfect standalone read with everything you could ever want from a book and a whole lot more!

Great review. I totally agree with you that Valiant is a good stand alone. Have you read Melissa Marr's books? They are similar and I think you might like them.
