I loved Audrey Niffenegger's debut so much that I feel like I've been checking YouTube for the movie trailer for years. It's finally here, but *whisper* it doesn't look good. Have a look and tell me what you think.

I loved this. Clearly you have a heart of stone.

I don't really like Eric Bana, tbh. I do like Rachel McAdam, but I thought she seemed too young in this. An I know "trailer" acting/voiceover is heightened, but it seemed really stilted. Plus that vanishing effect? Very poor.
It did make me want to re-read the book, though.

Oh man. I have been looking forward to this for so long... but it seems heavy on the cheese. And those breathy voiceovers... SO ANNOYING! And I agree Keris, teh vanishing effect is naff and she seems a wee bit young. But will no doubt trot off to the cinema in the hope it gets better :)

McAdams too young? I think Clare is only 22 when she marries Henry.
It looks like it's going to be sentimental, romantic and a little manipulative, but that was my take on the book too. And the screenwriter wrote Ghost so...
Eric Bana is dreamy :)
(dreamy???)

Was she only 22, Alison? She seems more mature in my memory.
And Eric Bana has the same problem as David Tennant, IMO, weak jaw. Which is why they both look better with a beard. Or maybe I just haven't forgiven Bana for that appalling Hulk movie I once snoozed through.
Shauna, I'll be seeing it in the cinema too, no doubt.

Deeply saddened that you'd place the dreamy Eric with the gurning imbecile that is Tennant.
(amazon blurb confirms 22-ness)

It doesn't look that bad! It just could never be as good as the book, and I wish Claire looked a bit more offbeat and Henry a bit more classically handsome, and the whole thing a little more understated and less emotionally manipulative... but it's Hollywood, that's just what they do to books, I guess. I'm still interested to see it.
It can't be worse than Hulk!

Hugh Jackman should have been Henry.
Only kidding (or am I?). Trailers are always weird although I got choked up watching this one - think I'm over-excited at the film finally arriving. Hope these aren't all the best bits. Loved the book and it;s still doing rounds so everyone who wants to see the movie has read it already.OOoh can't wait!!!
Ah, that's where I've heard the name Eric Bana - he was the Hulk? Blimey. He's not so hulk-y, though, is he? And only certain girls find DT attractive - we are the Geeky/Cheeky Seekers!

I am left cold by the trailer but then I was left cold by Henry in the book anyway (selfish sod, if you ask me) but I love that Bondgirl described DT as a gurning imbecile.

I think you should be a trailer-tester Stella! You're so discerning, you'd put those Hollywood wusses in their place. (Bonus points for use of Scotch dialect). x

No, that trailer doesn't do it for me.

I think the trailer's not bad at all coz i was dragged to the book by the trailer!
