As the clock strikes in a brand new year Leni Lomond makes a vow. This year things will be different. Working in the marketing department of City Plumbing Supplies is not the most prestigious of jobs. Although Leni would love for her life to be different, she isn't one of life's go-getters. Thankfully she has a friend called Trish who is, and who manages to persuade her to try for a job with Zara, TV astrologer to the stars.
Working for Zara sounds like her dream job, except for one thing. She has to blind date one man for every sign of the zodiac for one of Zara's projects. Not the greatest job for someone with a fairly restrictive comfort zone. But she does it and finds more than she bargains for on the way.
I thought the premise of this book was a little predictable. I have to say though it was anything but. I laughed. A lot. I liked Lori's character. I also liked her friends (Trish was the best character of the lot) and just when I thought I had predicted the end, wham, it all changed again.
Lots of things happen giving the book a fair old pace. She meets the weird and wonderful in her quest to date twelve men and there is never a dull moment with Zara herself. The book did slow down in a couple of places so I encouraged it to keep going by speed reading certain paragraphs, and it soon picked up again.
A great surprise of a book.
